Sheila’s weekly update 94: Prints, prints, prints
This week has been my November printing week, so I’m sharing some of the results. Although it’s mid November, the tangible signs of climate change are all around us. There are still “summer” flowers on the canal bank, and lots of foliage. I also share an adventure meeting some other artists along the canal.

Sheila’s weekly update 93: #morefromthefloor
This week I’m back on the floor, this time from the studio to share a bit more of of my current work in progress. Also let’s make #morefromthefloor a thing!

Sheila’s weekly update 92: Some new work and a little preview . . .
This week I share some more work stemming from my printing experiments. In particular the image left by the print bundles on the table. It’s becoming a bit of a motif! I also give a little preview into something happening next week . . . watch to find out more

Sheila’s weekly update 91: A little bit of drawing
This week hasn’t quite gone to plan however, I have been able to do a little bit of drawing. Using some of my eco prints I have been drawing little canal side landscapes. I’m enjoying how the leaves from the canal are creating backgrounds to draw over and create some urban landscapes.

Sheila’s weekly update 90: More from the floor . . .
From the floor this week I’m sharing the next steps in my eco printing/collage experiments, and from the studio a quick insight into some new paintings inspired by the image on the table I spoke about last week. I’m also experimenting with painting on polystyrene blocks, which so far is working well.

Sheila’s weekly update 89: More inspiration from unexpected places
This week I’ve been starting to think about how to use the outputs from my my eco-printing experiments. It’s all got a little bit meta as I have been making additional prints based on the eco-prints. But the what is starting to take a bit more time is some new collages, which are being anchored by the image I could see that the imprints from my printing experiments made on the studio table. It’s so easy to overlook the patterns and shapes which are created almost as byproducts from one technique. Just like my series of landscapes based on the chalk at the bottom of the easel after life drawing…

Sheila’s weekly update 88: Printing!
So this week’s update started so well. I got to the studio nice and early, got everything organised and tidy to film my print set up, did a couple of “fabulous” pieces to camera, got home to edit and for some reason half way through each clip, the video went into very slow motion. Not knowing how to fix this problem I just recorded another version at home sharing some of my eco printing experiments this week.

Sheila’s weekly update 87: Where are all the women?
This week I share some thoughts on an excellent new book – The Story of Art Without Men by Katy Hessel. In the book Katy tries to redress the imbalance in the recording of women artists through the ages. I am really enjoying finding out about so many amazing women artists, whilst at the same time being so annoyed that they quite literally have been written out of history.

Sheila’s weekly update 86: Being in my happy place
This week I share some reflections on our open studio event last week. I also share a few thoughts on a conversation I had with someone about these videos. I’m happy talking to camera here because I’m in my happy space and place – but it’s not always like that. I have my darker moments, and part of being an artists is developing coping strategies for what at times feels like constant rejection.

Sheila’s weekly update 86: open studio weekend
I’ve been having a busy couple of weeks and so didn’t quite manage to get an update done last week. However, normal service resuming today! This weekend, as part of the Glasgow Doors Open Festival, our studio space is open to visitors. I’m quite excited about people coming to see the whole space as well as my little corner of it. If you are coming along we are in the Dornoch Street Studios, G40 2QT (nearest train station is Bridgeton). Saltpace is quite active over the festival, not only are our studios open, but we also have our annual members show running over the weekend too. In Finite Worlds, features…
