Sheila’s weekly update 17 Feb 23: Elephants! and not just in the room . . .

How many little things do we just pass by without a second glance? Too many I suspect. I spotted a little elephant on one of my walks – didn’t think too much about it until this week. I took a closer look, so many ways to read its presence in the landscape. Protector? Symbol of wisdom of one passed, a light in the dark? I’m exploring ways to convey some of that in my work. I have been really inspired by the group crit sessions in the personal practice course I’m doing with Contemporary Art Academy this week. It’s really helping me make sense of what I am doing and how I can relate it to some more universal themes.
